Asics Gel Lyte V shoes from 1993 are an improved continuation of the successful Gel Lyte III. No IV model was caused by a deep-rooted conviction that the number 4 is unlucky in Japan! An important change compared to its predecessor is the replacement of a characteristic shared tongue for neoprene "sock" increasing comfort, fit and stability of runner. The original version was characterized by vibrant colours, typical of the mid-90’s. Upper is constructed with a combination of light, yet strong materials to significantly reduce the shoe! Sole, like its predecessor, is equipped with two Gel Cushioning System inserts - correspondingly bigger in the heel area, and smaller in the midfoot. They increase the feeling of comfort and cushioning for the runner. The introduction of the system in the late '80s vastly revolutionized the division of Asics running shoes. Cushioning system was based on the scattering of vertical vibration in the horizontal plane. All this contributed to further innovation, so the Asics brand has become a technological leader in the industry in the mid-90's! The first reissue of the Gel Lyte V model in the retro version is 2013 and from the day of its re-launch they enjoy enduring popularity. Designers surprise us at every step with new ideas, which rapidly get to the hearts of sneakerheads worldwide. Over the past few years, a number of spectacular collaboration happened, such as Ronnie Fieg (Kith) UNDFTD and Bodega.
