The 90’s in the Nike stable is primarily the Air Max line. At the end of the decade,
Nike designers began to look for something new, so they began to experiment.
Their result is Nike Air Max TN. Completely new shoes were still based on the Air
Max cushioning - visible in the sole in several places, but the already well-known
technology gained a companion in the form of the Tuned Air® system. It
supported cushioning and provided stability during each step. As for the structure
itself, the system was based on small hemispheres under the heel, which allowed
for differentiated support depending on the pressure of the foot, which could not
be achieved by air cushions. In a short time Nike Air Max TN was renamed Nike Air
Max Plus, but the presence of the Tuned Air® system and the same tribute to the
original name was emphasized on the tongue, heel and sole. The sole, however, is
not everything, which is why the upper part also had to stand out from the
previously known models. Admittedly, its design was really aggressive! The
thermoplastic, vinyl "ribs" appeared in the foreground, or, as others say, the "tiger
stripes". One might be tempted to say that this silhouete was the precursor of the
Flywire system from the present times. On the upper there’s also a small Swoosh
and reinforcement of the front of the shoe and also the element protecting toes.
Nike Air Max Plus for several years was unavailable on the market, but fortunately
returned, giving joy to sneakers maniacs.
